|| BE KIND TO YOUR MIND ||
I was just going through a definition of brain and mind. Humans have a brain which is a physical thing and is made up of blood vessels and nerve cells. The brain has a definite shape and structure and it coordinates movements, feelings, and different functions of the body. The best part is you can touch the brain while doing a medical study but we, doctors, cannot touch the mind as it's mental and hypothetical. It does not have any shape; it's just different types of energy from the brain. Be its sadness, happiness, anger, laughter or other feelings. The mind refers to a person’s conscience, understanding and thought process. You cannot touch your mind; you can just feel it with your heart. The debate between brain and mind has been going on since the time of Aristotle. The mind is considered as pure vibrating energy, whereas, the brain is considered as a physical manifestation of the mind. We all humans have a similar brain to think but have a different mind to execute. This pandemic has taught us that our brain, however, intelligent to think but when the mind starts executing energy, stops thinking. The time has come that we need to work with our brain in such a manner that we are kind to our mind.
Draupadi wanted to marry a boy who had all the good qualities such as intelligence, power, strategic thinking, executing power, honesty and also spirituality. Krishna said that these qualities are not possible in one person but if you want then you can marry the Pandavas who altogether have all these good qualities. She was so thrilled with this convincing thought. She got all the qualities she had thought of. But circumstances of her life and the Pandavas did not help to execute those qualities. They had to surrender themselves to the devil. Pandavas lost their wealth and also values because of circumstances and could not help Draupadi who was losing respect as a female. They survived only because of Lord Krishna as he was stable with thoughts and could make people understand real dharma. Dharma is to execute the brain and its intelligence to do good karma. Days that are good and bad can be good again if we execute good karma with our mind and brain.
The biggest asset in the world is your mindset. The brain may be too intelligent and can do wonders but if your mindset is not correct then your contribution, however powerful, cannot generate good results. We have seen in so many Hindi movies that many scientists have created very powerful tools for human life to be better but due to bad intentions, it does not survive for long. There are people in the world who understand that humanity has divinity and know that it will be painful if those evil scientists try to execute the project. The end of any Hindi film generates the result which is best for mankind. Here, we use our mindset very well but in reality, when pandemic came, science created havoc. While visualizing it, we have shut off our brain. We have started flowing with the mindset of people. Why can't we be kind to our mind and start thinking that the miracles in Hindi movies will come true in the end and reality will win? Our Indian culture also says, over the years no matter how much evil has conquered but in the end, only humanity will win or only dharma will win. Be kind to your mind to think in that direction that everything will change. This pandemic could be a Hindi film. Lets pray that the real hero, our lord will join us to remove our agony.
We are born and we learn from our environment. A study says that 20% of what we learn from our education is in our brain and 80% of what we learn from what we feel that is in our mind. My daughter studied at one of the most reputed schools in Mumbai. Every child studying there goes for tuitions or classes or follows the guide. More or less, every parent wants them to get more percentage and enter the rat race. But here, when I see as a professional audiologist and language pathologist, I feel the brain only enhances with the mind if the child learns to get the answers to the 5Ws and 1H (What, when, why, where, who and how) by using their brain. As a parent, I went against the philosophical mindset that all parents have and didn't send her to any tuition or classes and allowed her to grow on her own with a little baseline from her parents. Today, she is in the best Ivy League College in the world and above to finish Masters in Public Administration .Rather than flowing with the mindset of people, we should sit and think and decide our mindset as we need to be kind to our mind physically, mentally and financially.
First of all, you, as an individual, believe in yourself. If you believe science is not helping then take precautions to fight the disease. Follow the correct protocol; don't get carried away by external forces. However, if the situation demands you to be in a crowded place, follow strict protocol, and follow your dharma that you are needed for your family and your society. Don't get confused by the philosophy that in one place on earth, you can do whatever and in another place, you follow strict protocols and you will be fine. You are responsible for yourself and if you believe science is helping then believe accordingly and if you are confused between science with medicines and science of astrology or stars then just do good karma, Lord will sure show you correct dharma. Just be kind to your mindset.
