|| Depth of Desire ||
I was reading a quote that says "it's not length of life but depth of life." I would say the depth of life is your depth of desire. If you just go into detail of each parameter of our life then those who believe in God, they get in-depth of spirituality, feel the depth of faith and depth of feeling of the divine and the real connection with God. People who don't believe they just do prayers or follow spiritual guidance for sake of doing, and some of them also feel that by doing this, they will reduce their sins. In today's world, we vote for politicians with lower voices, because we associate depth with the power and authority of those individual politicians. Do we really go in-depth to see what actually means for them "to help people"? and on the other side, if we see from the time human have born on earth till today the depth of the love of parents for their children cannot be measured. It is like no other relationship, depending on the depth of the bond one has to face consequences whether it becomes big moral support or heartbreak or disappointment or happiness. Now be it spirituality or the reality of the world both depend on the depth of our own desire.
Depth of desire learning from Ramayana says though Rama had a desire to run the kingdom but he sacrificed his desire for his brothers. He knew Sita was clean by her deeds and he wanted or needed her support throughout his life, but one man from his own kingdom made a sarcastic comment about whatever happened with Sita, he also abused his own wife though she didn't do anything. Lord Rama sacrificed his desires to be with Sita and he let Sita sacrifice her life for her to prove respectful and for people to understand the circumstances. The depth of love of Lord Rama for Sita and the depth of love of Lord Krishna for Radha was so deep that today after so many years still they exists in every individual's heart. The depth of love for someone or understanding the depth of desire of an individual for their own self also depends on the depth of desire.
Working with hearing-impaired children made me realize that once your depth of desire is there to grow then nothing is impossible. I just met one of my hearing-impaired stars whom I know when he was three years old, not speaking anything, have not heard anyone speaking. We fitted him with hearing aids according to his requirement at that time whichever best technology was available. He studied in the normal school of Gujarati medium and then, later on, went for higher education in a well-recognized college, did B.com, then M.com, and learned tax analysis. He got married to a girl who is Marathi speaking and has a happy life. Today he speaks absolutely normal like us and leads a normal life. Last year he got a job at KPMG a leading organization, in Mumbai. Though he was working from home and had to work online, I heard he was facing difficulty in communication but his mother said I was there all the time sitting next to him and was helping him to manage some of the missed communication. After going through his and his family struggles and seeing him from a child to being such a responsible adult managing all the responsibilities like any other human being, it certainly makes me just imagine his depth desire to lead a normal life and his family also support him to grow? I don't have to say anything, don't you all feel we need to learn a lot from his story?
I feel the depth of desire can be accomplished when you go in-depth about working hard towards it. And that depth can be felt if you enjoy doing that hard work. A few years back when I used to go to one of the villages of Gujarat to see and help hearing-impaired children, I used to screen around 50 kids in a day and I personally used to fit all the digital hearing aids as per their individual requirements. My guide in the USA who does research for hearing aids has taught me fitting hearing aids in such a beautiful way with skills and giving better impact, that it has become an easy task for me. The best part is I was at a conference at his institute and all the audiologist professionals from all around the world were present there. My guide introduced me to them and said I do 50 kids' hearing aids fitting per day and you should hear the reactions of all the audiologists present there, they promptly said we do max 5 in a day how do you do 50? My guide replied so beautifully on my behalf its depth of desire to work towards it that matters? and I do agree with that, you do work which you love to do.
