BE GOOD, DO GOOD!!!

BE GOOD, DO GOOD!!!

Since the time Facebook, Google, Instagram, and many more social media platforms started. Every morning we receive lovely good morning messages. Also messages to start our day with new hope and inspiration. Some people do see these messages while some ignore and some get bored from these messages. I also share such messages and receive such messages.

I also send messages and receive some good messages. When I see such messages, I do go through them and search for only positivity. Those positive messages help me to get inspiration for my work also spark ideas for my articles. I consider at least eight picture messages for my article for which I go though tons of messages and then pick the most apt for my article. These messages make me think, “how good am I?” and also how I can implement those inspirations in my life. For instance, I encountered a message which highlights how David Latimer from England in 1960 planted a plant in a eighty litre sealed glass bottle. And it was watered last in 1972. The glass bottle has developed an ecosystem. As water evaporates in the bottle and condenses at the top and comes done as water droplet. The cycle continues and thus the plant is still alive. It depicts that life found its way. Every day we see advertisements on the road, on electronic media, on social media, in serials we watch, YouTube, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Voot and many more platforms and films. Some messages are eye catching and mark a place in our memory while some sound irritating as they are not ready to welcome positivity.

We have tv at home but because of my hectic schedule, I don't get much time to see. I generally spend time reading good books and such good messages whenever free. I believe what we see and read plays an important role in our life. From the era of our ancestors till today we have had faith in God. we read Ramayan, Mahabharat, Bhagwad Gita, and various other epics which help us to lead a better life and bring out our best for ourselves and our society. I m still trying to search from where the stories of crime and horror and a wave of negativity with social media initiatives and films have started coming...I wish I can find it and we can do something to erase it from society forever. The message of negativity or crime spreads faster than good messages or positive story messages.

The adoption of Western culture and the influence of social media have led to the erosion of our genuine cultural values. We are increasingly living in an artificial society rather than an authentic one. In the past, true society existed when individuals held values that prioritized others. Whether during the time of Mahabharata, the Mughal era, or any other kingdom ruled by a king, people would follow their leader and strive for the collective growth and well-being of everyone within their kingdom or society. However, in today's world, we primarily focus on individual success and engage in a competitive mindset, constantly trying to outdo one another. Consequently, it becomes challenging to act with kindness or do good for others. Those with narrow thinking tend to only share posts that are personally relevant to them, rarely extending encouragement to others. We have come across the statement "Jan Seva is Prabhu Seva," which means that helping others is akin to worshipping God. I recently read an insightful explanation in a book that is particularly important for young people to comprehend. Just as the branches, leaves, fruits, and flowers of a tree cannot be separated from the tree itself, similarly, those who wholeheartedly believe in God cannot be disconnected from God. Those who have faith in God do not merely pray for themselves; instead, they focus on helping others.

It is said that Arjuna, while preparing for the Mahabharata war, was concerned about his own family members who were on the opposing side. However, he chose to follow Lord Krishna's guidance. During the war, it is believed that the souls of all the fighters would continue to exist, and only their outer clothing or environment needed purification. Arjuna followed Lord Krishna's instructions to eliminate negativity and release all souls burdened with malevolent thoughts, as he had unwavering faith in Lord Krishna. As a human being, he performed a noble deed.

In our study of language in speech pathology, we explore the process of communication. It involves hearing through our ears, understanding through our brain, and then learning to express ourselves. Similar to how input influences our brain, it also determines the output of an individual. Scientific research indicates that 20% of our learning comes from formal education, while 80% is derived from our personal experiences and emotions. Considering this, we can imagine the significant indirect impact that social media has on young people. Even if we excel in our field or hold prestigious positions in our profession, the content we consume during our leisure time, such as negative films, dramas, stories, sensuality, sexuality, or baseless comedy, can greatly affect our daily lives. We may find ourselves captivated by such content on platforms like Netflix, Amazon, Voot, and many others, while failing to appreciate inspiring good morning messages.

Sometime back, we taught hearing-impaired children how to dance for the annual functions of two corporate organizations. We hired a dance teacher specifically to assist them in learning. The teacher graciously accepted the opportunity to work with these special kids, charging only a minimal fee. She found immense satisfaction in working with them. Recently, by chance, I had a conversation with her and asked how she was doing. She smiled and calmly shared her current circumstances. A few months ago, her husband sustained a back injury and can no longer work. Her elder son was involved in an accident, resulting in a brain injury, but fortunately, he survived and is now back home. She also mentioned issues with her house property and the fact that her daughter-in-law is expecting a baby in a few months. Additionally, her younger son just secured a new job. Despite being overwhelmed and constantly striving to improve their situation, she kindly asked me if there was anything she could do for those special kids. I was left speechless, listening to her struggles, yet witnessing her unwavering positivity and willingness to help others. She expressed her happiness that her family had overcome such challenging situations, suggesting that perhaps the blessings of these kids had worked in her favor. Her words made me truly understand the essence of being kind in order to do good for others. My parents had taught me the value of supporting those in need rather than seeking appreciation from those who require our support. Individuals who selflessly work for the betterment of others, despite their own pain and without hesitation, are the epitome of genuine humanity. They possess the knowledge of how to be good and how to do good in the truest sense.

I have encountered numerous individuals throughout my life who engage in various forms of work. Some work solely for their own goals, while others collaborate with you because they expect something in return. There are those who work to showcase their achievements, or to make others feel inferior. Some people perceive working with a particular person as a means to achieve their own success or establish prosperous business partnerships. Such individuals may take you for granted, assuming you will always be there to help due to your good nature.

However, I have come across only a handful of individuals who go above and beyond to assist you. These are the selfless workers who genuinely care for you and are driven by the desire to help others. They are the ones who truly wish to collaborate with you for the betterment of others. It is undeniably challenging to be good, but not impossible, and embodying goodness allows you to engage in positive actions. The formula to embrace in life is simply "Be good, Do good."
