|| GROWTH IS NOT LINEAR ||

Any natural growth process faces numerous challenges, whether it's the growth of plants and trees enduring various weather conditions and storms, or streams navigating from mountains to oceans with numerous ups and downs along the way. Similarly, individuals like soldiers, cricketers, athletes, or successful businessmen must endure numerous failures and experiences before achieving desirable success. Life's growth is often described as non-linear, marked by many ups and downs. However, what's crucial is understanding how one navigates through this process. The theory suggests the existence of cosmic energies in the universe. Those who believe in it argue that these energies circulate everywhere and through everything, in all circumstances. To experience this, one must engage with these energies while engaging in activities like walking, running, playing, jumping, shouting, and more. This interaction with the universal vital force facilitates personal growth, making it evident that even with significant effort, growth cannot be linear.

Once, during a discussion with some leading corporates, they shared instances where despite rigorous project selection and effort to find solutions, projects sometimes came to a standstill. They expressed frustration and questioned their involvement. I recounted my struggles, particularly with patients facing diverse hearing issues such as language comprehension, sensitivity, bilateral hearing loss, financial constraints, and more. Despite trying various hearing aids and fitting procedures, some patients remained uncomfortable and unconvinced, leading to moments of questioning the effort invested. Is it truly worth investing so much time?

However, I choose to remain positive. Such experiences with challenging cases now aid me in handling future patients more effectively. I explained to a corporate personality that despite projects facing standstills, the experiences gained enable smoother handling of future endeavors. In today's fast-paced world, there's a desire for rapid progress in every aspect, be it financial status, relationships, or commitments. However, expecting linear growth in everything is simply unrealistic.

On one hand, there's a demand for rapid advancements and revolutions, yet certain areas are still plagued by myths and misconceptions. Take, for example, the revolution in hearing aids. Previously, hearing aids operated on linear technology, simply amplifying speech and noise, resulting in speech getting dampened by surrounding noise. However, technological advancements led to the development of hearing aids with wide dynamic ranges that enhance speech while reducing noise based on individual requirements.

Technological advancements in hearing aids have the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for those with hearing impairments, yet due to lack of awareness and resistance to change, growth remains linear in this field. While we advance from humans to robots and explore space, the progress in dealing with special needs, such as hearing impairment, often remains stagnant. Sometimes, it seems we lack clarity regarding our life goals, focusing only on superficial cosmic energy without delving into deeper analysis.

Recently, we participated in a medical camp where we set up a stall to guide people regarding their hearing, speech, and voice issues, as well as their mental health concerns. I firmly believe that the world and its circumstances have evolved, with a shift towards prioritizing awareness over precaution, and precaution over cure. Therefore, our responsibility was to educate individuals about their daily physical and mental health challenges. We encountered various groups of people: young aviation professionals who emphasized the importance of monitoring their hearing due to their role as breadwinners for their families, aspiring female writers struggling to establish their identity and cope with stress, seniors and well-established individuals overwhelmed with work and lacking time to address their health issues yet reluctant to acknowledge their difficulties in maintaining their status quo, and some individuals attending the medical camp without a clear purpose.

In life, we encounter individuals with different attitudes towards growth: some desire linear growth, some prefer to remain stagnant, some are ignorant and go with the flow, while a few recognize that growth is not linear and are willing to work hard for success.

One of the lessons from the Bhagavad Gita, narrated by Lord Krishna, highlights the existence of cosmic energy in the universe, where human beings thrive. Those who believe in this energy understand that all actions stem from our senses and are driven by faith and devotion. Those who surrender to a higher power experience growth akin to a lotus flower in muddy water, remaining unaffected by the surrounding dirt. Since our actions are not linear, it follows that our growth cannot be linear either. Therefore, embracing change, being adaptable, and working towards noble endeavors based on depth and reality are essential for genuine growth.
