REWIRING OF THE BRAIN

|| REWIRING OF THE BRAIN ||

Positivity drives us towards rewiring of the brain. There is a whole new trend of rewiring the brain happening all around the world. When I attended an international conference this year in Atlanta, there was a whole discussion on rewiring the brain. In that, like any other senses, hearing is also equally important. Not only hearing through ears but also hearing your own self with conscious efforts. We, as normal individuals involved in day-to-day activities, often think that rewiring is related to an electrician, where any damage can happen in electricity, such as burnt wires, loose connections, detached wires, or incorrectly placed wires. However, here we're talking about rewiring of the brain, which plays a very important part in real life. Like electrical wires, a lot of such incidents can happen in our lives; we get burnt or hurt by someone, or due to some disease, we lose neuron wiring, or many such incidents. But it is up to us how well and how fast we rewire ourselves to be back in day-to-day life in a more effective way.

Lord Krishna, the great creator of life, wrote the Bhagavad Gita to let us know that when we face any challenging circumstances in life, we can turn to it for guidance. The Bhagavad Gita helps us to rewire our brains by teaching us to take a deep breath, analyze ourselves, express gratitude for everything in life, and practice positivity. By investing our time in personal growth, whether it's nourishing our physical, mental, or spiritual well-being, we can achieve a higher state of consciousness. While it may be difficult, with faith in God and efforts to overcome our emotions, we can strive to rewire ourselves in the best possible manner.

During the conference, there was a lovely speaker who presented a fascinating topic on rewiring of the brain, focusing on cognitive neuroplasticity, which is a hot topic worldwide. Cognitive neuroplasticity refers to the brain's ability to physically rewire itself through changes in mindset, meditation, gratitude, or selfless acts towards others. These practices not only bring about physical changes but also aid in making neural connections with others, where active listening plays a crucial role in the rewiring process. I discussed with her how today's advancements in hearing aids, tailored to individual requirements and compatible with phones, along with features like embedded prayers to listen to, contribute to faster brain rewiring.

According to research, prayers, spiritual talks by gurus to follow the right path in life, and listening to something that brings you joy and happiness play a very important role in our lives, contributing to the rewiring of the brain. I was discussing with my physical trainer that while many people focus solely on exercises or physical fitness, some still struggle with mental health issues. They find it challenging to overcome emotional hurdles. He promptly agreed, stating that physical fitness works best when coupled with mental fitness. Rewiring the brain is only possible when both physical and mental health are in harmony. However, in day-to-day life, dealing with competition, comparison, jealousy, or compatibility issues makes it challenging to efficiently rewire the brain.

I recently met a young girl who had come to my clinic with difficulty speaking efficiently. She looks smart, she has a good voice, and her articulation is also very good. However, when she speaks, she speaks softly, which prompts people to ask her to repeat herself. She speaks only to people whom she is comfortable speaking with. Now, talking to her, I found that she had issues with her parents. When I asked, she said, "I don't like their behavior." The parents had two girls and were finding difficulty balancing between them.  The elder one was bold and knew how to get work from her parents, and this younger one was keeping away as she felt her parents were not giving justice to her efforts. Now, here, should I do the rewiring of the brain for the parents or for that young girl?

Talking to her and discussing with her parents, I realized that rewiring of the brain is required at every stage of our lives. I cannot say as a parent that I am right at every stage, or that whatever kids do is wrong. We can't claim to have more experience, so we are always right. Nowadays, we have youngsters who have every possible exposure in life. Their lives are on a very fast pace. If we don't align their pace with our thought process, it's going to backfire, and they will either start ignoring us or withdraw from us. So, it's our duty to sit with them, analyze their point of view, and then correct the rewiring of their brain. Only then can balance be possible.

We as parents give every possible facility in life. We try to do our best, which we have faced so that our children should not face. We provide everything on a platter and then suddenly tell them to be independent, and also demand they depend on their thoughts, which is going to complicate all the rewiring of their brain. Rather, we should make them independent by teaching them caution in feeling, eating, learning, educating, managing relations, and facing challenges. Then their brain will be flexible, and then every step rewiring of their brain will be much easier. Today's generation of human beings has tremendous potential. We as individuals just need to rewire our brain, leaving old patterns of understanding life.

"My goal is to spread positivity to every human being in the universe. I share triggers of positivity learned from my day-to-day experiences, which helps me make decisions to change my own life as well as the lives of my loved ones. Now, all this helps me to receive rewards of inspiration and learning from specially-abled children with whom I work, and I also learn positive stories from all my readers. Now, all this strengthens my neural pathways and makes my mental and physical health healthier.  I create more strength to share those positive pathways to the brain, and now that positive approach has become my habit. How did you like my rewiring of the brain? If I can do it, what about you?"
