Fight for your Rights and Dignity

Fight for your Rights and Dignity

When we talk about the dignity of an individual, it means that we, as individuals, need to respect each other. Dignity means not compromising on your human rights. Today, in a fast-paced world, and being so fascinated by social media, we have actually forgotten what our rights are, what our dignity is, and what we, as humans, stand for. We use all our energy on comparison, jealousy, negativity, and many other unconscious crimes. Take a very small example: every child, whether normal or special, deserves to enjoy innocence, warmth, security, and love to see the beauty in the world. What is happening these days is that they are being forced into a rat race. Innocent children are required to fulfill numerous social commitments, and in some cases, we witness cruelty in how kids are treated. Over the years, due to changes in the human chain—or you could say devilish senses—people are not capable of handling humanity, and anger and frustration have reached such a high level that there seems to be no end to human cruelty. The right to fight for oneself and maintain a dignified conscience has been lost.

In today’s world, the highest target of losing rights are small children, especially female children and females as individuals. Human trafficking, violent movies, and social media promotions concentrating on the negative impacts of frustrated individuals have increased so much that people have lost faith and started feeling that humanity, love, and respect for each other are not possible and are unimaginable scenarios. Do we need to drown in this world, or should we try to overcome these challenges and cruel circumstances? We, as humans, have a habit of following others without understanding what is good or bad for us. A man who behaved cruelly towards a female doctor doesn’t even feel ashamed to talk about his behaviour, and he described it as having “animal instincts.” Where did he learn this from? We don’t come into this world knowing such things; we learn from our environment.

Why are we not raising our voices against such behaviors in our environment? Do we accept such behavior shown in movies simply because it’s done by famous celebrities? We still go and encourage them, accepting what they’ve done as part of life. These famous personalities are also motivated by financial gain and may not have a full understanding of what is good for them or for society. Everywhere, relationships between two human beings seem to be reduced to crimes, cruelty, frustration, or financial transactions. We have lost respect for each other and for the fundamental dignity of being human.

Lord Krishna’s perspiration from his hard work and his fight for human rights, dignity, and respect—especially for women—manifested in the creation of the Yamuna River. Yamuna, also known as Yamunaji, is considered a manifestation of Lord Krishna’s respect for humanity, particularly for women. Since ancient times, Yamunaji has protected Vrindavan, a town symbolizing abundant love and respect, especially the love of Radha for Krishna. The Yamuna River represents rights and dignity for women. However, we are adding so much negativity and pollution to the river. When Kaliya Naag began poisoning the Yamuna, Lord Krishna performed the Kaliya Daman Leela to purify the river and restore respect for Radha. I wonder when God will incarnate again to save us or when humans will come forward to protect society and the lives of people in this universe.

We are talking about education, which can give you skills, but we also need to teach spirituality and liberal education to save and respect the dignity of individuals. We must understand that, to survive in society, we need to give more importance to dignity than to individual wealth. In the pursuit of money and the rat race, we are losing the power to protect our families, communities, and country. Especially women must fight for their rights and work to restore their dignity. They need defense skills not only to protect their dignity but also to protect their country, just as Rani Lakshmibai fought. Men who believe in respecting women should come forward to protect them from society rather than agreeing with and following a cruel society. At this stage, I am also learning defense skills to protect my dignity, and likewise, every woman needs to learn these skills.

In the pursuit of a just society, it is essential to recognize that the fight for dignity and equality is not exclusive to any one gender. All individuals, regardless of gender, should stand together to oppose injustice and protect the rights of the vulnerable. We must foster an environment where everyone, whether male or female, has the opportunity to express themselves freely, speak against wrongdoing, and contribute to a culture of respect and equality. Injustice anywhere threatens the fabric of our collective humanity, and addressing it requires a united front from all of us.

In this effort, we must also be mindful of the social, emotional, and mental well-being of individuals. It is crucial to cultivate empathy, understanding, and resilience in both men and women, encouraging them to recognize and confront their emotions in a healthy manner. Emotional intelligence plays a vital role in fostering respectful relationships and ensuring that conflicts are resolved without resorting to cruelty or violence. When individuals are emotionally and mentally healthy, they are better equipped to advocate for their own dignity and the dignity of others.

Finally, the quest for equality should not overlook the importance of mental health and self-worth. Teaching individuals to value their mental and emotional well-being will help create a society where people are not only fighting for external rights but also nurturing inner strength. By empowering all genders to stand up for what is right, and by addressing the emotional and mental aspects of our struggles, we can move towards a world where justice, equality, and dignity are not just aspirations but realities for everyone.
