Be Free… Truly Free...

Be Free… Truly Free...

Be free, it is easy to say, difficult to follow. If you see any bird flying in the sky, we can say, "Wow! What a free bird!" If you see any animal running in the jungle, we may say, "Wow! What a life, they are free to run wherever they want!" They love nature; they are lost in nature fulfilling all the responsibilities as a creature. But we humans, can we, as individuals, say we are free and make others feel free? The truth is, being in this universe and utilizing all the resources or facilities developed by us has made us live in a concrete jungle rather than being free. I met one aunty recently who has been having hearing issues for many years but is happy wearing hearing aids and listens to everyone patiently. At the age of 91, she also says, "I still have to learn so many things in this universe. I’m enjoying each and every moment of life and believing in having a connection with the great Almighty." I feel this is the real woman who is free from all the world of science, accepting things the way they come and living a truly free life, however the circumstances are around. How many of us can do this??

How this aunty is free from all her environment and has her free thoughts. I met another aunty. I was discussing someone's illness, and she promptly said, "It’s so difficult to live with illness, and if we don’t take care, it affects us in the long run, and one, two, three, and many more things happen." Her mind was constantly thinking about illness and its consequences rather than finding the way to come out of all the challenges. She said, "On Google, I read this illness has so many consequences." Sometimes I feel Google has made us think more wisely or made us think too much in directions where we need not apply our mind so much. Certain innovations have made us locked in thoughts rather than being free.

I was just reading one story where one of the followers of Lord Krishna was in deep pain. Though in pain, she never stopped praying to her Krishna. One day while giving a shringar to Lord Krishna, Krishna’s idol was about to fall from her hand. She was in pain with all family and financial issues, so her mind was not stable, and now the Idol was about to fall from her hand. She started crying a lot. "Everything is going wrong; now more bad things will happen," she started thinking about more consequences. Also, our mind always thinks about what we have heard from people, that if the idol is about to falls, then it’s not a good sign. That night she cried a lot and then she slept. The next morning, Lord Krishna came into her dream and said, "Why did you cry?"

Lord Krishna said, "Earlier day you did talk to me and said, ‘Lord, today it’s your special day, so I will prepare some special dish for you and you will serve me.’ But in taking care of family and other things, you forgot." Lord Krishna smiled and said, "I just wanted to remind you, so I was about to fall. You were unnecessarily overthinking. You are such a lovable devotee, you treat everyone with kindness. Apart from that, you believe in me, then why worry? Time is difficult; it will pass and everything will fall into place." Hearing this, that devotee got different energy. She prepared a special dish for the Lord and offered it, and at that moment everything changed for her. All her difficulties became small challenging tasks for her, and with faith and courage, she was ready to overcome all the challenges coming on her way.

This story narrates that sometimes our brain thinks much more than required. Our thoughts get so clustered by what is happening around us. Scientific studies also tell us we are facing these issues; we have such-and-such illness, there is remedy for it, but with that, we may have this or that issue. But it does not allow us to think freely about what actually has happened to us. When we are in difficulties, we always think in a negative direction, which has now become a universal problem. But those who really have faith in divine connection and have real power, like that aunty, only they can think positively and freely and overcome any challenges of life like a small little task.

Nowadays, every day we get up in the morning, "Today the servant has not come, what will happen?" "Staff in the office are not there, who will do the work?" "A child has not done homework, what will happen?" "Children are not doing well in studies, what will others say?" "My child is not like any other child, now what will people say?" "I have got difficulties in vision, what will people say if I wear specs?" "I have hearing issues, what if people see me wearing hearing aids?" "My phone is not as smart as others’." "I’m not getting the salary my other friend is getting," and many more like this?? All the time is surrounded by others’ perspectives...

When our mind will be free from others’ perspectives and will think freely, "Oh, servant couldn’t make it, good, as it is I was going into wrong habits. Someone is helping me so let me enjoy doing it. I will manage my staff’s work in the office, doesn’t matter, he or she also is human, needs rest. My child is feeling lazy, it doesn’t matter he has not done it, I will sit and understand his or her difficulties and help him or her to complete homework. My child is trying his or her best in studies, doesn’t matter, I am happy with his or her progress; for me, that is good enough. My salary is good enough for me and my family to be happy and survive. It doesn’t matter if my vision or hearing is poor, thanks to technology, I am able to compensate for what I have lost." Such free thoughts only we will achieve if we have real connection with divine existence.

In today’s rat race, such free thoughts to come is a rare experience. We are surrounded by layers of unconscious negative thoughts, like unconscious mind and body. When and in what way can we make a change?? When we will start using our own individual free thoughts confidently and positively and learn to be free???
