Don’t Ask Permission to Fly....

Don’t Ask Permission to Fly...

“Don’t ask permission to fly, wings are yours and the sky belongs to no one.” When I came across this thought, it made me reflect deeply. Birds are blessed with the special power to fly, and they explore the vast, endless sky with unlimited directions before them. Yet, even with this limitless freedom, their focus remains clear, to fly for food, to migrate, to survive, and to explore the universe. We humans may not have wings, but our mind has the same capacity to make us fly. Our imagination is boundless, our thought process unlimited, and with focus we too can soar and explore like the birds. As I sat in a flight, watching the sky stretch endlessly around me, I realized that even though the sky is open in every direction, the aircraft follows its path with guidance and clarity, reaching its destination. Just like that, our own journey in life also needs focus, direction, and determination.

I also visited a place where all the wonders of the world were recreated in miniature form, and it struck me with a simple but profound message. Though the actual wonders are magnificent and built with extraordinary effort, even in a smaller capacity we have the ability to create and design them. This does not mean we compare ourselves or feel lesser. It simply means that when we recreate or reimagine even a miniature version of greatness, our own vision widens. Often in life, when we look at successful people, we feel we are not like them. But instead of being discouraged, why not take inspiration from them? When we reach that stage, we should adopt some of their good qualities, practise them, and try to implement them in our own lives. Step by step, our vision grows wider, sometimes even beyond theirs. For this, you don’t need anyone’s permission the strength and the spark always come from within.

We know the story of Eklavya, whose determination and self-discipline made him a legendary archer even without formal training. He did not wait for anyone’s approval his willpower itself became his teacher. We also know the story of Lord Ganesh, who gracefully accepted the face of an elephant after an incident that society would even today find hard to accept. Yet despite all odds, he is the god worshipped first on every new occasion. What seemed like a limitation became his greatest strength, and he turned it into a symbol of wisdom, courage, and new beginnings. These stories remind us that whether it is through our thoughts, efforts, or resilience, we do not need permission to rise, to grow, and to shine. The wings may be different, but the sky is always open for us.

I often find that every challenge, like a stormy sky, holds the seeds of possibility. Just as the bird uses the wind to soar, we too can harness difficulties to strengthen our journey. When we face storms, losses, doubts, barriers we need not wait for clear skies; instead, we can learn to adjust our wings and trust our inner compass. Our mind and spirit hold answers that can guide us through turbulence. Focus, clarity, and inner resilience become our flight plan, helping us reach beyond what once seemed impossible.

In this path of uplifting ourselves, connection plays a beautiful role. Just as birds fly in formations, supporting each other, our collaborations help us soar higher. At Hearing Hearts, we create that sense of lift through every shared story, every caring word, and every hand extended. Community becomes our wind beneath the wings, it reminds us we’re not alone, and together, our vision widens further. It’s a reminder that even unspoken support can carry us across distances our wings alone couldn’t cover.

This year, we celebrated the fourth anniversary of Hearing Hearts with a heartwarming Ganesh idol-making workshop for 44 wonderful hearing-impaired children. Watching their little hands shape clay into expressions of joy and devotion was pure magic. In the soft squish of clay, their creativity unfurled, their laughter echoed, and their inclusion shone brighter than any idol. Guiding them, seeing their confidence blossom, filled my heart because no permission was needed to let them fly into their own world of art, faith, and belonging

I believe that joy and healing often begin with simple acts. When a child molds clay into their version of Ganpati, they aren’t just building an idol they are crafting belief, confidence, and self-expression. That moment, beneath their small palms and wide eyes, lies pure freedom no limits, no expectations, just creative flight. Such experiences remind us that our minds are powerful wings, that imagination can soar higher than any physical skies, and that every child deserves the chance to explore their true potential.

And so, we continue forward, weaving our own journey of inspiration through stories, actions, and shared hearts. Whether through reflective moments, miniature wonders, or touching community celebrations, the message remains constant: no permission is needed when your vision is clear, your spirit is strong, and your heart is ready to fly. The sky awaits, and so do you.
