LIGHT NEW YEAR WITH NEW HOPE
LIGHT NEW YEAR WITH NEW HOPE
There is the supreme energy of our Almighty, the Sun, the Moon, the stars, the Earth, and Mother Nature in its vast presence through mountains, trees, animals, birds, and plants. All of them silently spread one message across the world: that we need to make the world more beautiful and worth living. Our sacred book, the Bhagavad Gita, written by our ancestors centuries ago, consists of 18 chapters, each carrying profound meanings and solutions to almost every problem of human life. It teaches us that life can be organised beautifully if we consciously choose happiness and positivity. When we decide to see goodness, sorrow slowly loses its grip on us, and we learn to live free from constant deliberation. Today, while fitting a hearing aid for a child, I witnessed a sudden spark of light on his face, as if he had received a new life filled with hope. These special children are immensely inspirational. Their reactions light up my own life every single day with renewed hope. This makes me wonder, why don’t we, as human beings, search for our own inner light to illuminate our lives?
At this juncture, what we truly need is to work on our psychological issues. We easily see beauty in nature; all flowers look beautiful when they blossom fully, and we are never biased while appreciating them. But when it comes to recognising beauty in human beings, our perception becomes selective and shaped by our thought processes. The world is diverse, with different tastes, artistic expressions, and cultural backgrounds. Some admire physical beauty, others value vitality, while some connect with intellectual beauty. However, discovering a very high, pure, and noble personality, someone who reflects moral beauty, requires conscious effort. Moral beauty exists within all of us, but in today’s competitive world, it often gets overshadowed. I sincerely hope the New Year revives this lost sense of ethics, values, and moral positivity.
Studies suggest that the real game changer in life is transforming an individual’s mindset. Scientific revolutions have taken us to GPS systems, robots, and artificial intelligence, yet when it comes to daily living, rituals, relationships, community building, or nation building, we often remain rigid in our thinking. We encourage newborns and growing children to remain occupied with mobile phones, iPads, and computers instead of offering them warmth, human connection, and awareness of their surroundings. At the same time, special children, who could benefit immensely from technological support, are often isolated rather than included wholeheartedly. It is time to change this mindset to support special people with empathy and to give emotional warmth and grounding to children who are otherwise considered “normal.”
The light of hope through spirituality is something we all sense deeply. We feel the presence of a divine force guiding us throughout our lives. This divine force becomes visible when we do what we truly love or what we are meant to do. Often, external influences and social pressures prevent us from choosing the right path. Yet, when we act with calmness, faith, and the support of those who genuinely wish well for us, nothing becomes impossible. A life filled with balance, purpose, and positivity then naturally walks up to our doorstep.
Lord Krishna’s teachings in the Bhagavad Gita emphasise the power of selfless action, inner discipline, and emotional balance. He reminds us that attachment to outcomes creates anxiety, while sincere action performed with awareness creates peace. When we focus on doing our duty with honesty, compassion, and mindfulness, without constantly seeking validation, life begins to flow effortlessly. This wisdom encourages us to trust the process, accept change, and remain steady in both success and failure, allowing hope to become a way of living rather than a temporary emotion.
In my daily interactions with children who hear the world differently, I am constantly reminded that hope does not require perfection; it only needs acceptance. A child responding to sound for the first time, a gentle smile, or a moment of silent connection speaks volumes. These experiences reaffirm that light already exists within and around us; we simply need to recognise it. When we support such children with patience and inclusion, we are not only enabling them, but we are evolving ourselves as human beings.
The New Year symbolises renewal, not only in calendars but in consciousness. It invites us to reflect on how we treat one another and how inclusive our thoughts truly are. Inclusion is not charity; it is responsibility. When empathy replaces judgment and understanding replaces comparison, hope naturally finds space to grow. True progress lies not just in technological advancement but in emotional maturity and moral awareness.
As we step into this New Year, let us choose to light our lives with purpose, kindness, and awareness. Let us listen more deeply, not just with our ears, but with our hearts. When we become a source of light for others, hope multiplies effortlessly. And in that shared glow of spirituality, compassion, and positivity, life truly becomes beautiful and worth living.
