|| Power of Words ||

It is said that the power of words can move hearts and those hearts can move limbs. When words have positive power, they fill the heart with love and move the body with force. I was returning from Goa when I noticed an elderly citizen couple seated next to me. They must be between the ages of 70 and 80. It was a short flight in the afternoon. The air hostess began providing meals, and this pair, who may have Diabetes, may have taken their medications in the hopes of receiving food. Because they had pre-booked it, the husband and wife were confident they would receive it. The air hostess was serving meals, and they began handing them out to everyone, but they did not get any. The wife stood up twice to inquire, and both the husband and the wife became restless. They called the air hostess and inquired as to why we were not receiving meals. The air-hostess stated that we are not need to pre-book but will still confirm. Immediately, the husband took out the tickets and began searching for tickets to confirm. He seems to have made a pre-booking for Mumbai to Goa, but it was not reflected in the flight from Goa to Mumbai. The wife picked their tickets to check, and gently handed them back to her husband, and said, "Hey, honey! We are not eligible to receive food because it is not stated here. Let's eat what I currently have and order some juice."

After taking their medications, they placed a meal order and dealt with their hunger. I found it fascinating to watch how the lady handled the issues while saying "honey" in a polite manner. That one word reflected how much she loved her husband. I'm talking about how the love between the couple was reflected in the beauty of that word. You seldom ever see the kind of love and affection that I witnessed in this couple today in the fast-paced and competitive world of romance. At this age, they were both travelling alone and doing everything on their own, and the strength they had in one another was mirrored in just one word. They must be effectively making up for each other's shortcomings. Their daily interactions reflected the intensity of their love. There was warmth between them, which is unusual these days. Whether travelling, strolling in a garden, or in a shopping district, you will frequently witness people verbally abusing or becoming enraged with their partners, as well as seeing their wives or children cry or seeing employees fired, among other such incidents. Do we really pay attention to how we speak or behave in certain circumstances? Do we try to speak with love?

With a human brain from birth, we discover the power of language during the learning process. Language is made up of a collection of words. Now, those words express a wide range of characteristics, including our emotions, sentiments, education, personalities, and behaviors. Deep research has been done to analyze how people use their words. Imagine that those three million words, learned with all the criteria we described and taught with a lot of added positivity, may have such power. According to one study, children can learn thirty million words within their first five years of life, regardless of their family's economic status. After birth, a child starts talking maybe after 9 or 10 months and the first word they utter is "ma," ''papa,'' "dada " or ''dadi.'' It adds so much energy to family members. It becomes a day of celebration. Then just imagine those three million words learning with love and positivity will generate so much power in this universe.

I remember that one of our close relatives had a very crude personality and frequently used abusive language. As children, we used to be really disturbed by this and avoided her. Because she is older than you, you should respect her and speak to her in a respectful manner, as my mother used to say: "Don't pay heed to her comments; that's her karma." Choose your words carefully, since they will reveal much about your personality. I believe that discussing the "importance and values of words" with your children might help to brighten and pacify their futures. Sometimes my daughters ask me why I never get angry and why I always speak softly. I respond by explaining that my parents taught me to always be nice and speak with love in order to heal people.

Every word in the Bhagwat Geeta and every word spoken by Lord Krishna are filled with life's purpose and positive energy. The encouraging words said by Radha, "Whatever happens and wherever you are, I will be there for you," have helped Lord Krishna overcome all of life's difficulties. There are a few lines from Lord Krishna's story that have stuck in my head, saying that we pray to God in front of his idol (murti) and that murtis are created through a long and challenging process before taking the form of an idol for God. We all experience minor daily worries. Lord Krishna's powerful teachings, which we should begin putting into practice in our lives, are love and a positive understanding of life. If we do this, our lives will change dramatically and become much more meaningful.

We, as humans, should use words wisely since they have the power to establish or sever relationships. We may undo all we've accomplished in life, or we can work miracles with our choice of words. In the so-called world of social media, tweeting or posting something about someone can either destroy them within a day or cause them to go viral. As an example, lately, the popular term "COVID" sent the entire globe into a toss. I hope that one day the word "positivity" will spread like wildfire, causing the entire world to turn around and see wonders. Instead of mental illnesses, people will start celebrating happiness.

Most nations take pride in their national anthems, especially in India nowadays, where we play them in all movie theatres before they start. The most popular form of amusement for many urban people is going to the movies. With the beauty of words in it, India's first jewel, RAVINDRANATH TAGORE, has masterfully crafted the music of the national anthem. It exhibits pulsating patriotism. We also have the Indian Constitution, which was established using strong phrases like JUSTICE in the social, economic, and political spheres. LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith, and worship; equality of status and opportunity; and to promote them all, FRATERNITY, assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of our nation.

Words have the power to heal you because they represent your inner reality. Words like "can I?" and "I can" may work miracles even if they are only a small alteration. You may get inspired, empowered and healed by words. The most effective phrase in my life, in my opinion, is "I trust you, God." I really think that every kind word we use in our daily interactions will help us to reflect the beauty of our souls. Use this word's power wisely.
