Luck or Skill

||Luck or Skill||

When we talk about luck for someone, it often implies they are a winner. For instance, if someone wins the lottery or receives a gift in a lucky draw, we say they are very lucky to have obtained it. However, those who are fortunate in receiving gifts may not necessarily be fortunate in maintaining relationships, having good physical and mental health, or facing various other situations. In the natural world, many trees may appear beautiful and seem lucky because people appreciate their beauty. Yet, they may lose their charm over time and eventually regain it after a while. On the other hand, there are numerous trees that aren't particularly admired, but they survive for many years and provide shelter to countless people. Nature itself teaches us that while luck can play a role in our lives, to truly thrive with that luck and enjoy the beauty of life, one must also possess skills. I once read somewhere that people who are lucky and work with happiness will receive abundance as a reward for their efforts. In contrast, those who are skilled and use happiness to guide their lives will receive happiness as a gift from life itself.

We are lucky that we are born in this universe as humans, but are we skillful enough to maintain this luck and survive in this universe? In recent times, we have witnessed many great personalities who were lucky enough to start with small attempts at work and suddenly received bigger opportunities, gained fame in a short amount of time, and couldn't accept defeat. Within a short time, they gave up their lives as humans. They were really lucky, but they didn't understand that luck is present in every situation in life. One spiritual personality has explained it very nicely: there are two states of consciousness. One is normal consciousness, which is governed entirely by the common movements of the mind, including grief, joy, anxiety, and the desire to do everything that makes up the ordinary stuff of life. Mental quiet and happiness can be attained, but they can never be permanent or secure.

Other skills, which also include spiritual consciousness, are all about light, peace, power, and bliss. If one can live with these skills, then these things become natural and secure for him. The person who feels this then receives enough of his spiritual light, peace, strength, and happiness to carry him securely through all the shocks of his life. Lord Krishna and Lord Rama are among the best examples of this. They were born lucky to be in a family that had its own kingdom but were not lucky to be accepted by everyone. However, with their own rich consciousness and skills, they achieved such a high level of luck that they still survive in every human as a ray of hope

I like to attend conferences at both the national and international levels. I often see many ENT doctors and audiologists, like myself, come together to exchange information and share research studies from all around the world. With 32 years of experience in practice and having traveled extensively, I have observed that every professional in our field strives to excel. They focus, conduct research, establish data, and gather information from various sources. Recently, there was a small discussion about the effects of taking medicines for ear issues or to maintain body balance, which can lead to changes in cochlear pressure. Our simple human bodies undergo significant changes during various bodily movements. It was also suggested that hearing-impaired individuals who incorporate physical exercises into their language training tend to learn faster than those who do not. This underscores the importance of both professional expertise and personal skills in enhancing the benefits of hearing solutions.

I feel so lucky to be in this profession as it helps me become a better human being and also enables me to change the lives of many people. Recently, I had one client who came to me after reading my positivity articles. He is very fortunate as he has a good business and is financially well-off. However, he had developed hearing difficulties over the last two to three years. With the advice of one professional, he obtained the best hearing aids, spending quite a bit of time and money to correct his issue, but he was not happy with the results. Somewhere in the back of his mind, after reading my regular articles, he had been planning to meet me, but it didn't work out until six months of continuous reminders from my articles finally brought him to me. I solved his hearing difficulty within half an hour, and he said, 'I'm so lucky that I finally met you.' I felt fortunate that with my skills, I could solve his problem. Friends, positivity does work. It's lucky to be in a profession that you love, but it's your skills that bring you more luck when combined with positivity.

There was one more beautiful topic that was discussed: one human having all the modalities of skills working, like decoding words, phonological awareness of sounds, sight recognition, vocabulary knowledge, background knowledge, language structure, literacy knowledge, and verbal reasoning. In all, it means skillful reading with language comprehension. However, still in our country, only 74% are literate, which is considered normal. So, imagine out of 14.62 million individuals with disabilities, 54.52% are illiterate. Just imagine! We are lucky that everywhere scientific revolutions are happening, but are we skillful enough to make major changes? A lot of work needs to be done in this one such area, and many more issues need to be tackled. We can't be content with just being lucky to be human.

Positivity, consistency, discipline, patience, and confidence will help your luck be utilized with skill and enable you to achieve any seemingly impossible task. I'm lucky; I can do it. I can certainly try to do it. I can be successful in accomplishing any task with confidence, and for that, I need to be skillful and a good person. Working with deaf kids has given me so much positivity and skill in this profession that my luck, as blessings from these lovely kids, is always with

The rare occurrence of a blue moon on August 30th, 2023, serves as a poignant reminder of how fortunate we are to witness such celestial events. A blue moon, which refers to the second full moon in a calendar month, is a unique and awe-inspiring sight in the night sky. This infrequent phenomenon reminds us of the vastness of the universe and the beauty it holds. The sighting of a blue moon is not just a matter of luck; it positively affects us in many ways. It encourages us to pause and reflect on the marvels of nature and the universe, fostering a sense of humility and gratitude. Such celestial events can inspire a renewed appreciation for the world around us and remind us of the intricate, interconnected tapestry of existence. Moreover, they serve as a unifying experience, bringing people together to share in the wonder and excitement of the cosmos. The beauty of the night sky, just like the good things that come from helping others, shows us that being lucky is great, but we can make our luck even better when we use our skills and stay positive.
