 || PUSH...Persist Until Success Happens ||

I know so many patients who are in a coma for so many years and their family is waiting for one magic to happen and the patient gets recovered. They are lying but the family thinks positively that the heart is still working so we must wait. I know one patient who was 107 years old, she was in bed and her son was doing all the possible things to keep her healthy and fit. She was in bed. In order for her to get up, walk and go to the restroom he put a steel rod in the whole room so she can hold and go. She developed hearing loss and was not able to hear prayers and music so he told me to visit and see if I can help her to hear with hearing aids. We made hearing aids for her and he got a lovely music player for her and it was such a great feeling to see a smile on that 107-year-old lady and hats off to her son who was taking care of his mother so minutely. I narrated this incident so that we all understand that when we love things how we become persistent to save them or keep them alive. We want our loved ones to survive till they take their last breath and when it comes to our job or day-to-day routine life, we give up so easily.

We all follow our religion, we recite prayers the way we learned from our elders or from our religious books. Rituals are performed differently in different religions. I have faith in Lord Krishna so whenever I get opportunities I do get involved in doing rituals. While doing rituals, many a time people who have strong ritual background try to correct or sometimes get angry also if we don't do it in the right manner. Sometimes, I feel rituals are given more importance than prayers. I remember I had gone to attend a ritual function of one of the gurus. We wanted to help in some way. Those people who were close to those gurus were so rigid that they never wanted us in doing any rituals. We were okay with it but then we were called by gurus and we were approaching them. There was one place we had to remove chappals and enter, none of the places it was written that you have to remove chappals and go. The people who were doing rituals for gurus shouted at us so badly that you don't know what are you supposed to do before coming here. We were shattered that to pray to God or help in rituals we have to go through such scolding. From that day, I decided rather than going for rituals and making God happy I should pray and remain connected with God. Today, I feel my persistency in praying and having faith in God has made me a better human being. God does not see how well you perform the rituals for him, but he definitely sees how humble you are and pray and believe in him.

When we are small, parents teach us maths and if we don't understand they show us different ways but they see to it that we learn addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division well. When I was in school, my father only used to teach me maths but apart from teaching me his main concentration was that I write well with my hand and my writing should be good. If my mistake was there he never used to like it. He used to believe whatever you do or write, think first and then write, do calculations in your mind, and then put it on the paper. With his persistent efforts, my writing was really good and during school time I received many prizes for my writing. During 12th class, my biology teacher used to tell me that seeing your clean paper and writing, the teacher will give you good marks just like that. As parents, we do give so much effort that our kids become efficient in whatever they do then where does this thought of persistency by our parents goes away later on. We give up in life with small difficulties, be it financially, physically, emotionally, or in any relationship.

The magical advice given by one of the billionaires is when you do business, your customers are number one and they should be your priority. If you want to be successful you need to have passion and you do need to work hard but at the same time, you need to keep consistency in services. You are in a culture where the relationship does matter. If you have a good relationship with your customers, then the chances of rejection of your services are very less and even if you are rejected by your clients, you have to give good services and you need to accept it. If you want to give good services in any profession you need to have good knowledge about it which makes your dream alive. Persistent efforts in the right direction do give wonderful results called success.

I meet so many young professionals from different professions and I see that this generation just believes in earning very fast. They join the company as professionals, the company also gives sales targets, and to fulfill that and to grow faster they do unethical work. Nobody tries to get into roots and finds how without affecting any customer we can do business. In our audiology profession, all the hearing companies gives sales target, and then? Hearing aids are to be given to individual requirements and every individual has different work, environment, different hearing loss, sensitivity is different and many environmental parameters are involved. If you don't pay attention to such parameters then there will never be persistent growth in hearing health. Such detailing needs to be done in every profession. Somewhere every profession needs to be systematic. An approach where customer and profession both have win-win situations and that is only possible if every company does work persistently in whatever they do and maintain quality. Nothing can be achieved with power and a fast process. Every process demands persistent hard work and patience.

In life, flow like water which starts from mountains with a small stream and reaches to finding its way to meet the ocean. Water finds its way through rock and reaches its destination. In the same way, we grow in life with our experiences some are good some are difficult and every experience teaches us to be better. If we just think like that in whatever we do then nothing is impossible. Hearing-impaired kids with whom I work, I see that they and their parents are just like water. They challenge themselves to grow however rocky the weather is in between. In these thirty years, I have seen so many hearing-impaired kids who were not speaking anything and now they converse like near normals and are in different professions taking care of their families. Here, persistent efforts only have helped them to be successful. Seeing their success has increased my positive energy which has made me complete 120 articles in English and 100 in Gujarati.

Seeing then I feel that the more you believe that everything will be okay the faster it will become a reality. Many times, parents of deaf kids say that we don't know whether their child is hearing or not. The first few months when we fit hearing aids they don't see progress or child turning head towards them but like even normal child starts hearing at 3 months and starts speaking at nine months. In the same way, when we fit hearing aids it's the birth of hearing, and to make them hear like us we need to talk to them persistently. Recently, we fitted hearing aids to a three-year-old child and his school started the next day. A few days later, the child didn't respond and his teacher complained to his mother that he is not hearing,  neither following any commands nor paying attention. The mother responded that the audiologist says we need to wait and have patience. Somehow they agreed and now after one month, the child is responding so much better like any normal kid. Teachers are just amazed at his persistent response.

Somehow not only in dealing with these hearing-impaired kids but also we all have got much less patience that we just judge people in a hurry. We don't wait and give time to anything we do, may it be coronavirus or any other issues in life. Our panic reactions do not allow us to think more. Nowadays, we only work for short-term gains and lose our identity. Long-term goals and clarity of vision in whatever we do will only help us to get persistent in our goals towards positivity. I am spreading positivity with persistent efforts and that has got me success to be a better human being than what I was. What about you all?
