Why Family Matters…..
Why Family Matters…..
Every human being in this universe desires four important things in life, name, fame, money, and family. We all work hard to earn recognition, financial security, and respect in society, but somewhere in this journey, we must ask ourselves what truly gives meaning to our life. Yesterday, while watching a Broadway show based on love between two robots, I was deeply touched by its beautiful message. Though robots are created by humans, the emotions shown in the play were stronger than what many humans express today. One robot searched for his owner only to realize that after his owner’s death, even family members were not emotionally connected to his memories. It made me wonder, in this fast-moving world, are humans slowly forgetting the value of family while running behind fame and money?
After so many births and karmas, we are blessed to be born as human beings, yet sometimes animals and birds seem to understand family values better than us. Birds protect their little ones until they can fly, animals stand strong for their families, and their life revolves around care and protection. They truly live by the thought that family is everything. But today, many humans are becoming self-centered, often forgetting the warmth and strength family gives. If this continues, perhaps one day even machines may remind us that love grows best within family bonds.
In today’s world, people are running very fast behind name, fame, and money. Success is important, and financial stability is necessary because money helps us build security and support our loved ones. But if in earning money we lose our emotional connection with family, then that success often feels incomplete. We have seen great leaders and celebrities rise both with and without family support, but we have also seen many successful people struggle emotionally despite having wealth and fame. Sometimes jealousy, competition, or ignorance weakens family relationships. This makes us think deeply, how much do family values really matter in shaping a balanced and happy life?
Working with special children has shown me the real power of family support. I know a mother from a village who came to Mumbai after marriage and discovered one of her twins was deaf. Instead of giving up, she learned English, and her husband studied law after BCom so they could financially and emotionally support their child better. Their hard work, sacrifice, and dedication changed that child’s life completely. Today, that child has successfully passed from a normal school and is pursuing higher education confidently. Such examples prove that family support, along with financial strength and determination, can truly create miracles.
During my recent foreign travels, I noticed many senior citizens travelling long distances just to spend time with their children. Some struggled physically, some were tired, yet their emotional strength was remarkable. I also saw families returning to India to reconnect with parents. This is the beauty of Indian family culture, no matter how far we go, our roots remain connected to family. Fame may take us places, money may make travel possible, but family remains the strongest reason behind many journeys.
Lord Krishna’s life beautifully teaches us the importance of balancing responsibility, prosperity, and family. Though he had to fight evil and fulfil his larger purpose, he always valued family and created Dwarka as a place of security, growth, and togetherness. His actions showed that one should not only build wealth and status but also create a strong support system for loved ones. In the same way, Ricky Kej’s recent song "Longing Chit Chor" beautifully reflects emotional longing and reminds us that deep connections remain central to human life.
Today, social media and global exposure have made the world smaller. Youngsters are exploring opportunities, building careers, earning money, and creating their identity. This is good, but while achieving all this, they must not forget family values. Mental stress, loneliness, and emotional struggles are rising because somewhere family connections are weakening. Family warmth gives us emotional fitness that no amount of money can replace.
Recently, our entire family, from a two-year-old child to an 85-year-old elder, travelled together on a pilgrimage. It was a deeply emotional experience where every generation felt connected through faith, love, and togetherness. At that moment, I realized that while name, fame, and money are important parts of life, family is the true foundation. Spiritually, emotionally, physically, mentally, and financially, family supports us in every way. Family does matter the most in life… think about it.
